The night had been better than Aleesha anticipated. Cole was every bit a gentleman her ex-husband was not. He was not all about banging it out and leaving. He cared…really cared. He had stayed overnight, fed her rubbed her feet and made love to her again before they both fell asleep with her cuddled in his arms. When she woke up the next day, she expected to find herself alone in bed but Cole’s arm was still around her. A smile played on her lips as she gently pulled herself out of his embrace, careful not wake him up. She looked at him as she put on her bathrobe and then looked at the clock on her night stand. She sighed when she noticed the time. She only had three hours to get to the hotel. Heck, they both had three hours.

She took a long deep breath and suppressed a grin. Today was the day that all her hard work finally paid off. It was finally the day that the acquisition was going to be made public and Cole had insisted on her saying a few words since the whole thing was her idea. Aleesha hated the whole idea of standing in front of people especially given the fact that she was so self-conscious lately.

“Think about it like this,” Cole had explained in an attempt to make her feel a little more comfortable. “A few years ago, the Las Vegas financial management pool was like an episode of Survivor as the two big players tried getting the upper hand but suddenly, that is not the situation anymore and we have just got twenty eight million in new clients and assets.”

“I already know all that,” Aleesha had said rolling her eyes.

“Then you also know that I want the world to know what the woman responsible for getting me so much money in billable hours has to say.”

She knew that he would not give up until she did what he wanted, so after a long back and forth, she agreed to do it.

“I know that a five year anniversary does not really warrant a two day celebration but given what we have achieved in such a short time, I guess we deserve it,” Cole had said.

Aleesha was still smiling as she looked at a sleeping Cole. She was not sure how long she had been looking at him before she finally spoke.

“Cole,” she whispered as she looked down at him. “Cole,” she called again when he didn’t respond the first time.

His eyelids fluttered open and he stirred in bed.

“Hey there,” he said in a groggy voice.

“Hey there yourself.” She sat down on the edge of the bed. “I hate to wake you up but we have to be at the hotel in a few hours…but it’s not like I am throwing you out or anything.”

He smiled and took her hand in his.

“I know you are not throwing me out,” he said before he pressed his lips into her hand.

“I was just going to have a quick shower,” she said.
